Haunted Halloween 2026 | Echo Bosses Release & Awakened Encounters | Master Clues & QOL Fixes

Halloween returns to GrinderScape with The Reaper's Missing Midnight, new Echo encounters and Awakened Desert Treasure II bosses. This update also brings new equipment editions, progression rewards, Castle Wars bots and a wide range of gameplay and client improvements.

Halloween 2026 - The Reaper's Missing Midnight:

  • Join Death in an expanded Halloween Hijinks adventure to restore the harvest wards, hunt Abomination and The Mimic, and help reclaim the missing midnight.
  • Continue the story with a private Dark ankou hunt, an awakened quest lantern and a haunted manor containing three saved objectives.
  • Complete the final midnight ritual with glowing wards, clear floor warnings and safe retries before the Halloween celebration.
  • Finish this year's story to earn the 2026 Halloween achievement, Grim reaper outfit, spooky pumpkin lantern, spooky chair and two noted pumpkins. The chair can follow you for a short visit or perform a haunting spin.
  • After the quest, take part in an optional community ghost vigil. Help in all three waves through combat or spirit rescue to earn community pumpkins, with a marked guide, clear countdown and Start now option.
  • Death offers travel to each objective and replacements for earned quest tools. The quest lantern can be carried or wielded, provides objective hints and offers a return to camp.
  • Improved the quest journal, conversations and lantern hints to explain the next objective, saved checkpoints and lost-item recovery. Death can also replace earned quest notes and his diary without another recorded boss victory.
  • Haunted manor tasks remain completed when leaving or reconnecting. Expanded the manor, restored its doors and improved the route to the library and saved objectives.
  • Added guidance arrows for quest encounters and community rescue spirits, and clarified travel, rescue and harvest reward messages so they match your progress.
  • Improved Halloween travel and keyhole exits. Players can leave the Dark ankou hunt when ready and escape The Mimic during combat, while Draynor travel arrives in the village for underground exploration.
  • Quest boss items now appear as personal ground drops alongside normal loot. Improved the final ritual's altar placement, prayer animation and sound.
  • Completion rewards that do not fit in your inventory now go to the collection box. Fixed the spooky chair failing to return when both your inventory and collection box are full.
  • The Grim Reaper's seasonal shop offers classic Halloween cosmetics, including costume sets, the haunted bottle, wig and lantern. Cosmetics available from The Mimic have been removed from the shop.
  • Fixed confusing conversations that referred players back to the NPC they were already speaking to, and made lost-tool recovery clearer throughout the quest.

Halloween Atmosphere & Seasonal Improvements:

  • Added a Pumpkin dusk login theme with warm lighting, lavender mist, flying bats and a softer copper Halloween logo with a carved pumpkin and cobwebs.
  • The login form now has subtle plum stone, copper edging, cobwebs and warm button highlights. Grass and earth receive a light autumn tint while stonework and floor brightness stay clear.
  • Restored seasonal town appearances, including pumpkin-headed bankers, costumed shopkeepers and eerie undead trees that retain their usual interactions. Female bankers now join the festivities, and more shopkeepers wear skeleton, gravedigger and Grim Reaper costumes.
  • Death now occasionally speaks to nearby visitors and casts eerie effects around the camp. Corrected his facing direction and restored the Vampyre juvinates' rival fights and overhead chatter.
  • Halloween lanterns now use matching carrying animations while standing and moving. Pumpkin harvest messages remain readable on both parchment and transparent chat backgrounds.
  • Fixed broken punctuation in pumpkin descriptions and players walking through the pumpkin storage bin. Seasonal event NPCs now stay hidden when the event is disabled.

Echo Boss Encounters:

  • Challenge private, repeatable Echo encounters through the Echo keeper at home.
  • The roster includes Kalphite Queen, Cerberus, King Black Dragon, Dagannoth Kings, Grotesque Guardians and Thermonuclear smoke devil, alongside Hespori, Corrupted Hunllef and Amoxliatl.
  • Echo fights introduce lightning patterns, ghost barrages, shadow-dragon shields, rotating protections, Guardian flame walls and resonance-based attacks.
  • The expanded encounters include flower protections, shield phases, tornadoes, icicles and arena hazards.
  • Updated the Demonic Pacts variants' appearances and combat effects, including the correct Echo name and model for King Black Dragon.
  • Improved protection phases and overhead prayer displays. Protection icons no longer remain visible while inactive or incorrectly return after re-entering an encounter.
  • Fixed damage reaching Echo Kalphite Queen during her transformation, improved shield and Hespori flower protections, and made arena cleanup more reliable between fights and when leaving.

Awakened Desert Treasure II Bosses:

  • Use Awakener's orbs to challenge Awakened Duke Sucellus, The Leviathan, Vardorvis and The Whisperer.
  • Awakened Duke Sucellus: Added bile trails and a sweeping orb attack.
  • Awakened Leviathan: Added a pursuing tornado to keep players moving.
  • Awakened Vardorvis: Added extra axes and paired head attacks.
  • Awakened Whisperer: Added longer attack volleys and shadow-realm challenges.
  • Improved the regular encounters' combat stats, attack timing, shadow stuns and cleanup. The Whisperer now includes sanity, shadow-realm specials and its final enrage phase.
  • The Whisperer now drops damaged Virtus pieces that match its Collection Log. Drop rates remain unchanged.

Rewards & Progression:

Skill Prestige Rewards:

  • Prestige level-99 skills for platinum-token cash rewards, with a separate base reward and fixed repeat increase for each skill. There is no ten-prestige limit.
  • Firemaking starts at 2B GP, combat stats at 10B GP and Prayer at 15B GP. Each repeat adds a fixed percentage of that skill's original base reward.
  • Construction now starts at 20B GP with a fixed 30% increase per repeat, Hunter at 8B with 18%, and Farming at 9B with 20%.
  • Game-mode bonuses increase payouts, including 70% more cash for Realism. XP above level 99 now earns an additional bonus that grows gradually up to 200 million XP using the skill's base reward and repeat increase.
  • Choose Prestige on the Demonic Pacts League board to open the rewards interface. Updated the instructions and removed the outdated Leagues option from prestige menus.
  • The preview shows your next reward, XP bonus, mode bonus and starting level before confirmation. Reward amounts use clearer billion and million labels, up to two decimal places and improved spacing.
  • Prestiging resets only the selected skill to its starting level, including level 10 for Hitpoints and level 3 for Herblore. Existing League Points, perks and sigils are retained.
  • Very large payouts keep remaining platinum tokens saved for later claims. Prestige announcements show the skill, prestige count and reward earned.
  • Fixed confirmations staying open after a choice, reward and status messages appearing in the wrong place, and valid prestige resets failing to save or leaving players unable to move.

Collection Log Completion Rewards:

  • Completing an eligible Collection Log now earns a one-time random reward, including mystery boxes, Cursed Relic Chests, Royal Vaults, 2B-5B in platinum tokens or a $10 bond.
  • Raid logs, Quest Rewards, The Gauntlet and Fortis Colosseum award double quantities. Completing every quest also earns a separate double reward.
  • Previously completed eligible logs can receive their rewards by opening them.
  • Rewards go to your inventory or collection box. If both are full, the reward waits until you make room and reopen the log.
  • Completion announcements now show the reward received and its quantity.

Master Clue Scrolls:

  • Master clue scrolls now offer 6-9 steps drawn from ten map, digging and NPC clues.
  • Master caskets can award Samurai, Mummy and robes of darkness pieces, the Obsidian cape (r) and supplies. Rewards are tracked in a new Master Treasure Trails Collection Log.
  • King Black Dragon, Cerberus and Kalphite Queen now drop master clues in place of elite clues at their existing chances.

Earned Titles:

  • Unlock 17 new titles through boss kills, minigames, skilling, pet collecting and voting, and browse them in the title chooser.
  • Added Master Miner, Fearless Runner, The Pestilent, Venomwalker, Godwars Menace, Zookeeper and Voting Legend.
  • Added Hallowed Shadow, Delvebound, Bullbreaker, Grand Architect, Guild Greenfinger, Rumourmonger, Harvest Warden, Crystalbound, Frostfire Keeper and Void Vanguard.
  • Zookeeper recognises pet families across stored pets and followers, with recolours and duplicate copies counting together.
  • Added six title effects featuring runite gleams, hallowed wisps, venom mist, tiny falling coins, drifting leaves and ancient sigils.

Skilling Tasks & Wintertodt:

  • Track skilling assignments in a dedicated sidebar with skill icons, task details, progress bars, search and an assigned-task filter.
  • Skill hover tooltips show task progress and ready-to-claim reminders. Information stays current throughout the session, including when the plugin is enabled, with smoother fonts, larger details and clearer contrast.
  • Wintertodt supply crates now make outfit pieces, tomes, gloves, torches, the dragon axe and Phoenix easier to obtain. A rare reward averages around every seven crates, while the axe and Phoenix remain longer-term rewards.

Equipment & Custom Editions:

Hallow Equipment Collection:

  • Added Hallow editions of Torva, Pernix, Virtus, Angelic cape, Ancestral, Tumeken's shadow, Twisted bow, Masori, Darkmeyer and Scythe of vitur, retaining their combat effects and utilities.
  • The collection has matching charcoal, pumpkin-orange and violet animated finishes, matching banknotes and a carved-pumpkin mystery box. Refined Darkmeyer's gold accents and the Angelic cape's contrasting borders.
  • The Hallow mystery box awards exactly one of the collection's 24 pieces with equal chances and a matching reward preview.
  • Hallow Shadow and Scythe require no charges. The Hallow Twisted bow still uses arrows.

Boss, Crystal & Void Rift Editions:

  • Added themed Nightmare, Seren, Prifddinas, Vorkath, Verzik, Nex, TzHaar and Mort Myre collections, including banknotes, compatible mixed armour sets and their equipment effects.
  • Added matching custom finishes, with smooth colour-shifting accents for selected collections.
  • Prifddinas Crystal armour and Bow of faerdhinen never lose their power. The Verzik Sanguinesti staff's powered attack requires no charges or blood runes and retains its healing effect.
  • Added Void Rift Pernix cowl, body and chaps with banknotes, normal Pernix bonuses and protection from all four God Wars factions. The set uses charcoal panels, silver details and slowly shifting violet-blue accents.

Barrows & Pestilence Editions:

  • Added Blood Moon Dharok, Morytania Guthan and Zaros Ahrim editions, alongside Raven Karil, Imcando Torag and Hallowed Verac, with matching appearances and banknotes.
  • The new Barrows editions never degrade and retain their usual set effects, including applicable Gloves of the damned bonuses. Karil still uses bolt racks, and ordinary Ahrim spells still use runes.
  • Added Pestilence Elite Void and Superior void (pestilence). Superior void includes all three combat helmets with matching dark-jade armour and violet animated accents.
  • Superior void retains its set bonuses and normal break, repair and protection rules, with matching broken and protected appearances.

More Armour & Weapon Editions:

  • Added Araxxor, Phosani, Ectofuntus, Sunfire, Brimstone, Sol and Olm equipment editions with their matching combat effects, special attacks and custom finishes.
  • Sunfire Tonalztics requires no charges and can be checked from inventory or worn equipment to confirm its permanent power. Ordinary staff spells still use runes.
  • Added Inferno Obsidian armour, Whisper Venator bow, Sire Abyssal bludgeon, Elidinis Fang, Zamorak dragon claws, Icyene Saradomin godsword and TzHaar Elder maul editions with banknotes and their normal equipment effects.
  • Whisper Venator bow never needs ancient essence. It still uses arrows, retains its ricochet attack against NPCs and offers a clear power check.
  • The modern Elder maul and its TzHaar edition can use Pulverize: 50% special energy, 25% increased accuracy and a 35% reduction to the target's current Defence on a damaging hit.
  • New editions appear in the Customs display. Equipment stats shows their set bonuses, passives, utilities and special attacks clearly, including costs, without repeating ordinary equipment bonuses as additional effects.
  • Permanent Barrows pieces and the Whisper Venator bow no longer offer obsolete charging actions.

Combat, Bosses & Minigames:

Doom of Mokhaiotl:

  • Players can teleport out of delves and collect unclaimed rewards from the loot pile outside. Claim & Leave now works with a full inventory, with overflow rewards remaining available outside, including Dom when another pet is following.
  • Improved larva spawning near Doom and during shield transitions to give players more room to react in deeper delves. Shield-phase larvae arrive consistently from one direction, and survivors remain present when Doom moves during the car phase.
  • Acid blood now scatters across a wider area in one direction per delve, and acid pools use venom damage splats.
  • Corrected Doom's moving position during the car phase and improved projectile travel, impacts and falling-debris visuals.
  • Improved car-phase landing and slam timing so the earthquake follows its visible windup.
  • Fixed delayed attacks and encounter damage reaching players after they leave, including an overlap shove interrupting an exit. The delve-entry message no longer blocks movement and clicks.
  • Fixed the shield colour lingering after shield phase and health, shield and charge bars interfering with one another's appearance or fill.
  • Uncharged Eyes of Ayak can be dismantled for 10,000 demon tears after confirmation.

Castle Wars:

  • Added bots that capture flags, defend their castle, support teammates and fight alongside players.
  • Bots can react to matches, have short conversations with nearby players and invite clan members to join games.
  • Fixed bandages healing the wrong player and restoring too little health. Improved flag cleanup, lobby balancing, ropes, barricades and tunnel interactions.
  • Fixed bots retiring after carrying a flag instead of re-equipping their combat gear.

Combat & Boss Rewards:

  • Alchemical Hydra can now drop hydra leather, which is tracked in the Collection Log. Use it on the machinery in Lithkren Vault with a hammer to make Ferocious gloves, or use the machinery to revert the gloves to leather.
  • Branda can now drop a rare Tome of fire and Eldric a rare Tome of water at Royal Titans.
  • Use desiccated pages on a fire or water tome to convert them into burnt or soaked pages one for one, without consuming the tome or changing its charges.
  • Fixed special attack energy recovering twice as quickly after login and earlier overload doses ending the effects of a newer dose.
  • Armoured zombie acid pools now deal contact damage even when the player is immune to venom, using a poison damage splat.

Construction & Player-Owned Houses:

House Features & Fixes:

  • Fixed leaving a house sometimes preventing re-entry until relogging.
  • Portal Nexus destinations no longer apply quest requirements that do not belong on GrinderScape, and their displayed Magic and material requirements are corrected.
  • Dungeon doors now open both halves and stop blocking passage. Restored the Sit-on action on Demonic thrones.
  • Connected rooms can now be built beside a neighbour's solid wall without unrelated doorway openings blocking placement.
  • Stored pets now appear correctly in the pet-house list, and refreshing the menu preserves its contents.
  • Combat dummies now face the direction of their installed furniture.
  • Fixed hired servants failing to appear after entering or rebuilding a house and leaving the bell-pull stuck saying the servant was not ready.

Construction Shops & Prices:

  • Family crests now cost 45M GP, with the Money crest at 250M. Maps cost 5M each, portraits 33.2M and paintings 140M.
  • Aligned Keldagrim Stonemason prices with Construction Supplies. Limestone bricks cost 7.2M GP, and both stores stock condensed gold for 1,089,138,311 GP.
  • Garden Supplies and Garden Centre purchase prices have increased by 1,000 times. Fixed the Falador Garden supplier's Trade action, with the Garden Centre also available through dialogue.
  • Adjusted house redecoration prices, with higher-tier themes costing up to 50B GP.

Client, Chat & Interfaces:

Messaging & Chatbox:

  • Restored Message on friends and Tab-to-reply in the OSRS chatbox. Sent private messages now appear correctly in chat history, and reply prompts show a clean recipient name.
  • Fixed split private messages also appearing in All chat and restored the Chat Filter's repeat-message counts and filtering.
  • Restored copy, cut, paste and select-all shortcuts in the OSRS chatbox and its input prompts.
  • Dialogue and input boxes no longer stretch across an enlarged transparent chatbox, and walking away clears open prompts correctly.
  • Trade, duel and gambling requests now show the player's name and correct text colour, with their Accept actions restored.
  • Friend and ignore actions now use a single name prompt without delayed text resets, and correctly prevent adding your own account.
  • Broadcasts and private messages now follow the collapsed chatbox in resizable mode. The emoji button and picker hide with it, and private-message and broadcast links are easier to click accurately.
  • Escape now closes the bank while searching, and the Escape-close preference remains saved after relaunch.

Dialogue & Interface Readability:

  • Improved longer NPC, player, item and message dialogues with readable pages instead of awkward spacing, overlapping names or text covering the Continue button.
  • Fixed cut-off text and awkward wrapping in Hunter Guild, farming and aerial fishing conversations while preserving normal choices and conversation flow.
  • Voting rewards and other dialogues now show coloured text instead of visible colour codes.
  • Restored the Construction icon in the Book of Knowledge and shared lamp-selection interface.

Graphics & Client Reliability:

  • Improved GPU and HD rendering during login and area changes, fixed area loading failing on empty objects and corrected an issue that could interrupt interface updates during login.
  • A failed graphics-mode switch now returns to the latest working mode instead of treating an unsuccessful switch as working.
  • If HD fails to start or stops after an error, players now receive a copyable report to share with support.
  • Fixed incorrect NPC colours, textures and models after custom appearances are updated, and improved loading reliability and support for special characters in text commands.
  • Outdated clients are directed to download the latest version before logging in.

General Fixes & Quality of Life:

  • Fixed large item deliveries losing part of a reward when inventory space ran out, and partial ground-item pickups removing items that should remain available.
  • Fixed invalid custom bank-withdrawal amounts clearing a stored item stack.
  • Membership renewals now extend the paid time remaining, with matching previews and fractional days retained during renewals and upgrades.
  • Fixed timed rewards losing part of their duration when an earlier effect had already expired.
  • The Infinite money bag now provides one coin per game tick while carried or worn, with no quest requirement. Restored its inventory actions and added a confirmation before destruction.
  • Long and curved bones now provide only Prayer experience when buried or offered at an altar, with updated examine descriptions explaining their use.
  • Fixed clan chats failing to load after a server restart and Diomin bonus chickens stopping their roaming when players moved away.
  • An extra 24 hours of login-streak protection applied on October 6 to account for the server outage. This was a temporary allowance for that date.
